What is Pilonidal Sinus?

A pilonidal sinus is a small opening or tract that develops in the skin near the tailbone, usually within the cleft between the buttocks. It can occur when hair and debris become trapped beneath the skin, sometimes leading to irritation or infection.

When infected, it may cause pain, swelling, redness, tenderness, or fluid and pus discharge. Some people may experience recurring symptoms if the sinus does not heal completely.
